you know, one thing that has really touched my brain since i started doing this ustream.tv thing is the global nature of the whole deal. it sounds cliche but it is truly a mind warp sometime as it becomes clearer and clearer how easily connected we are through the net and our little tv show. i had the pleasure of having our star ustreamer "hett" skype me this morning, and as we chatted about one of the blog entries i had written it really struck me that he and i have a real relationship that is has sprung from the virtual world.
and then "kalaru" drops me an e-mail from australia and "nawlins" from new orleans sends me lunch. i pop off a song to "killuminati" in watts, and then i listen to a song from "kenya" from, you guessed it, kenya. then "ramsey clark" chimes in on the opera tip outta panama and and it all seems as normal as the nose on your face, yet it is a scattered group of people flitting through the internet at the speed of light. "making love outta nothing at all" as the old song says...
very nice to have met all of you. you are, as they say, number one
LOL

PEACE OUT
Life is but a vast series of snap-shots; fine slices of the living pie.
You can take those snap-shots out of life; but you can't take life out the snap-shots.
And is it any different for virtual reality? And the virtual communities that spring from them? Has the boundary become so blurred that virtual community now has more currency and "real characteristics" than the day-to-day, face-to-face contacts we have in our real lives?
I like humour (humor to some) as a barometer of life. This transcends the virtual/real divide. Roll in a dab of observational insight and a splash of altruism and the real "pie of life" is ready for baking.
And Suzanne, I can tell from your blog post, and the nature of your chat comments, that you have steered yourself over the hump that has been shadowing your life. The downhill run now awaits; maintaining your balance and re-adjusting your stride into smaller and more confident steps should ensure (as the say downunder) that things become "a piece of cake".
I am sure too that Global Ron is pleased and proud to have made a contribution into your life. In many ways he's a bit of a hurricane himself... but a positive phenomenon that enriches rather than destroys.
Focus on the balance,
Kalaru
